Welcome everybody to a special edition of The Dangerous Ones. Uh I'm just going to read from the Associated Press. Uh breaking news. Conservative activist Charlie Kirk, the CEO and co-founder of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA, has died after being shot Wednesday at an event at Utah Valley University. Uh the shooting comes amid a spike in political violence in the United States across all parts of the ide ideological spectrum. Excuse me. Um so uh Charlie Kirk uh was shot and killed today and it's just it, you know, regardless of what side you're on, that's just shocking and disgusting. Yeah. You know. Yeah. Guys, you know, I I know that everybody when uh when Luigi uh Manion uh killed the CEO of the healthcare organization, like the internet kind of exploded and was like, "Good, you know, yeah, we love that guy, guys." I'm like, "I get it. I I get it." But like vigilante justice is a really dark and slippery slope and we're sitting here three cont podcasters content creators not much different we're different in our ideology but we're in a similar position and like does this give some [ __ ] on the right permission to like come camp out outside our studio and mow us down like this is this is just this is not how to handle uh you know political differences in this country and it's really scary and um you know I I just hope that everybody keeps that in mind when you're having reactions to this news and and I get it like I I [ __ ] hated Charlie Kirk. I hated everything he stood for. I said so much [ __ ] about Charlie Kirk. But that does not mean that I want his life taken away, that I want his mother's life to be destroyed or his family's life. Like, this is what we're doing. Yeah. We're destroying lives. Like, this is this isn't the way. We were just covering uh we were just doing an episode earlier that will come out today at some point uh about what Code Pink did last night at a restaurant in DC uh when they confronted Donald Trump in a peaceful way. And uh I can't agree more with how they handled themselves and uh and that's how it should be done uh peacefully. And we want to know what you think obviously about the situation and where the political uh spectrum is at this this point. Um, you know, there was a the re one of the really sad things about um this today that this happened today is there was a school shooting in Colorado today at a high school. Right. Right. And how many people are going to be talking about that, right? Right. You know, nobody. Right. And like this is an epidemic. Like that's that is my worst fear as a parent. And you know, I've got kids I've got school age kids and like the gun violence in this country is out of [ __ ] control. And people just feel like they have every right to just go and mow people down. And it's it like that there is something deeply deeply wrong with our culture and specifically around guns. Um solving problems does not go from zero to 11. Like there's a whole spectrum of how to go about changing what's happening. And this is not it. Yeah. And we need to keep guns out of the hands of crazy people and people who mean to do other people harm. And that it is the position of this show, like I don't want to speak for you guys, but like we need stricter gun laws in this country. And I will just say like I'll throw this out there. Earlier this year, Utah Republicans passed a campus carry law, HB128, which allows individuals aged 18 plus to carry a firearm, either openly or concealed, on college campuses, provided they hold a valid Utah concealed weapon permit. So, um, you know, Utah Republicans, uh, paved the way for something like this to happen. This was on a college campus in Utah. Well, it's not making any better. It's making it worse. Things are escalating now. There's no reason for anybody to be carrying a gun on a college campus. It's ridiculous. Well, there is one reason. School shootings. And that's the other thing. It's just like this is not solving anything. This is not We're going in the wrong direction. We're going in the wrong direction. Just crazy news today. We wanted to bring it to you first.
