Intro Viral video. Trump supporter detained by Border Patrol. I'm Jim Drastic. I'm Tiffany Drastic. I'm Nick Kton. And today on the Dangerous Ones, a viral NBC7 video is making waves showing San Diego area Trump supporter George Doyles and his wife Esmeralda detained by Border Patrol in what they describe as blatant racial profiling. And why the experience has them rethinking their vote for Trump. Plus, another US citizen, Andrea Vez, is speaking out after a video of her being unlawfully arrested by ICE agents in Los Angeles went viral again. We'll dig into the growing crisis of American citizens being detained, arrested, and even deported, and explore why some Trump supporters are now having second thoughts. My goodness, man. They're snatching up American citizens. Yeah, this is a this is a really big story that like I mean You guys, if you're not paying attention to this, you got to wake up because American citizens are getting picked up off the street and thrown as as we'll hear from Andrea's story, you know, thrown in a detention center with without water. That's right. It's a long time. It's absolutely racial profiling. They only stopped them because they look cuz they're brown, you know. Yeah. I don't know how else to explain it. Yeah. You know, so let's get right to the video. Show you what we're talking about. This is a report from NBC7 out of San Diego. Watch this. Stay till the end. It's incredible. Video A Border Patrol stop captured on video near Hakumba is raising some questions. Border Patrol has not yet responded, but the couple detained says they think there was no reason to stop them at all. NBC7's Shelby Bremer has the story. All of my life, 50 years I've been here, I've never been harassed by Border Patrol on this side of the border like this. This is outrageous. That's George Doyles. He and his wife are from Imperial Valley and they love to camp. So when they were headed up to a dental specialist in North County on Wednesday, they decided to explore Hakumba and this area around Boulevard. They headed up this road to see if they could find a campsite. And that's when they say their day took a very different turn. We didn't think anything of it. We're American citizens. We're on US soil. Why should we be afraid? George and his wife Esmeralda say an unmarked SUV started following them and pulled them over. They say border patrol agents first approached wearing masks. Who does that? Criminals do that. Robbers and thieves do that. So, she started to record. So, the reason why we're stopping you is because you do U-turns and there's a there's a known alien out in the area. He told the agents where they were going and that they did not consent to any search. If you have a dentist appointment, it probably wasn't the best decision to be out in the middle of nowhere. No, that's We have the right to travel anywhere we want to travel. You do. You're absolutely right. You do. and I actually have the right and authority to stop you. Why are we not allowed to be here? Because we're not white. Our skin doesn't match. The couple sat in their car as the agents brought a canine. It It's called reasonable suspicion. Do you think that they had reasonable suspicion to stop you and search your vehicle? Not at all. Not at all. The dog did smell a small amount of legally purchased cannabis, so they got out for a full search. 30 minutes in, the agent says he could take their vehicle, but we want to go ahead and let you off with a warning. George and Esmeralda both voted for the first time in 2020 and again in 2024 for President Donald Trump as they see his immigration crackdown. Do you regret your vote? Yes, I do very much so. I, you know, I feel shame, guilt, and anger at the same time. They were going to the dentist because George was injured in an accident that destroyed his jaw and nearly took his life. As Moralda says, the thought crossed her mind. She could have almost lost him again. We were sitting right here. I didn't know what to think. They were once thinking about moving here. I don't want to come back after this. Noah, we already got harassed once. Why do I want to come back and get harassed again? Now they drive away carefully and they say traumatized from Boulevard. Shelby Breamer, NBC7. Wow. So here's this poor guy and his wife out there just kind of, you know, cruising around looking for a campsite because they like to camp after I went to the dentist. Yeah. And and so, you know, they're looking for this campsite and they get stopped for nothing else than they're brown and uh it's disgusting. And and and let's be honest, they're lucky because nowadays they're snatching them up and sometimes deporting them, right? Uh for no reason. Yeah. I mean, and and poor Esmeralda, you heard it in her voice. I mean, traumatized. Traumatized is like this is happening to people all across the United States, whether they are here legally or whether they're whether they're not like whether whether they're American citizens or they're not. This is this process of getting stopped, getting profiled, getting tackled, thrown to the ground. Like it's traumatizing to human beings. These are human beings. Yes. Yes. And like and it's just it's just disgusting. It's shocking. And you were saying we have like you were mentioning, we have a friend. Oh yeah. We have a friend of the show and she took her family on vacation to Canada and she is a naturalized citizen. She's born in Colombia and she is telling me this list of [ __ ] she has to make sure that is in order. They have to make sure all of their passports are not just like on, you know, on in their bags like on their person and how they have to coordinate their family because they don't want to get caught up at the border not being able to get back into America. That's right. And all of these preparations like that cop was trying to say reasonable suspicion because why does the vehicle match? Yeah. Does he match this? Uh what did he call him? We called him an alien on the loose. Yeah. They said there was an alien on the loose and and and they stopped him for that reason thinking he was it. Jesus Christ. Just the way they talk about human beings. Yeah. It's disgusting. Also, we have another viral video. Uh this one is out of LA. Uh NBC 4 uh had a ran this story. And actually this is the this happened actually back in June. This is the second time this video has gone viral. Why? Because Andrea VeZ is speaking out. She's a US citizen. And listen to this story that happened to her. Oh my god. Story No one should be going through this. You may remember this video. The sister of Andrea Valz hit record as a federal agent took her into custody during an immigration enforcement operation in downtown LA. Now, this was back in June. Today, Vez, who was born and raised in LA, is sharing her story for the first time on TV since her release. NBC4's Hetty Chang live right now in Highland Park, where Andrea lives with her family. Eddie and Colleen, here in Highland Park is also where Andrea Vez says she's been working from home since then. She tells us she's simply too traumatized to return to work. Veles tells us she has constant flashbacks of the day she says that man, a federal agent, slammed her to the ground and then took her away. Andrea Vez has yet to physically return to work near 9inth and Main Street in downtown Los Angeles where the 32-year-old works as a production coordinator for a shoe company. I take it day by day. That day, June 24th, says her mom and sister had just dropped her off at work. It was like a scene like they were just ready to like attack and chase. VeZ describes seeing unmarked cars and masked men in civilian clothing going after people. All I felt was that he grabbed and just slammed me to the floor. Vez says she tried to tell the plain agent who arrested her that she's a US citizen. He said that I was interfering with what he was doing, so he was going to arrest me. And that's when I asked him to show me his badge number, his ID identification. Uh I asked him for like if he had a warrant and he said I didn't need to know any of that. VeZ's sister sobbing through this video called 911. We were uh already driving away and she in her mirror she's like they're taking your sister. In this criminal complaint, federal prosecutors say stepped into an agent's path and extended one of her arms in an apparent effort to prevent him from apprehending a man he was chasing after. Veles says while officers were processing her into a detention center in downtown. She again tried to tell them she was a US citizen and did nothing wrong. So, they didn't believe me. Um, and then I gave them my real ID and at one point I gave them my driver's license and even my Kaiser uh, health insurance card. LZ says they still didn't believe her. She spent 2 days in the detention center where she says she had nothing to drink for 24 hours. And you have to buy utensils to eat. This lady, she was going to get out that day and she was very kind enough to give me her cup and her like her spork. was released from custody two days after her arrest. And a month ago, the Department of Justice dismissed her case without prejudice, which means her case is closed temporarily. I don't have any criminal history. Um, I've always tried to do the right thing. Uh, I've never hurt anybody in my life. We reached out to the DOJ for our story today. A spokesperson said they had no comment. I think it's insane that this is all happening. I never imagined that this would ever be occurring here in America. Attorneys say they are now exploring all legal options against the federal government. We're live in Highland Park, Hetty Chang, NBC4 News. Commentary That's outrageous. It's sick. What's happening right now is sick. Like, and okay, so she's just walking in. She's walking to work. Uh, she sees plain closed people wearing masks and armed chasing people. Like not like who who's to say they're not human traffickers, right? That's right. Who's to say they're not active shooters? You don't know what this is. So like even if I I'm skeptical of the officer's story about her throwing her arm out to block him. That sounds like a reason to pick up a brown person. Yes, I agree. And she was let off on those charges, by the way. Um, but uh even if she did stick out her arm to to stop him, like go like awesome. Like I'm I hope in that situation I I will do the same thing cuz it's probably going to come up for all of us in the next few years, right? That's a natural human reaction to protect another human. If you if you are not clearly identifying yourself as a law enforcement officer and you're running after people with your gun, Yeah. like you you should get stopped. Yeah. You know, it reminds me I'm reasonably suspicious of you, right? It reminds me of this video I saw um of a a a cop's uh body cam and he was pointing and you know, one of these AR-15s at a at a person. He's like, you know, get down on the ground. Get down on the ground. Now, the man on down the hallway, he was in a hallway at a hotel, put his hands up because he's got a gun. He doesn't know what's going on. He puts his hands up. He puts his hands up and he's telling him, "Get on the ground." Now he's the man is yelling this at the guy. He So he's got his hands up, but next thing you know, the guy shoots him. Shoot a shot. Killed him. Killed him right there. And it's a And so to your point, it's like, you know, when you watch this video, she's being picked four feet off the ground. She's just a little gal. She's getting picked four feet off the ground. It's the scariest situation. You don't know how to react. I doubt she did anything on purpose to impede an an investigation. You know, I'm sure she just was reacting like a normal person, right? But again, it goes back to the point that a US citizen is being picked up and detained. Folks, they're coming after us. Yeah. I don't know what to tell you. Yeah. And I don't know, you know, I don't know how a regular person would perceive like a Penske truck full of plain closed like army [ __ ] popping out of the back of a truck and running into a Home Depot or like running onto a That's not exactly a deescalation tactic. You and I were literally on the bridge yesterday and saw a Penske truck with a guy in fatigues driving the truck and he was driving slow and we had to sit there and say to ourselves, is this uh a freaking ice situation? Yeah. I can't believe I had to think about that. We had a full two-minute conversation about like, you know, do we what are like what is happening, you know? And seriously, what is to prevent some militia group? We're in we're we're in Oregon here. Some militia group in Eastern Oregon decide they decide, hey, I want to vigilante justice these immigrants, too. Yeah. And they rent a Penske truck and they put on their fatigues and their masks and they go and they start rounding up brown people, right? And like how would you know the difference? That's the problem is like there's no due process. They're not showing their badges. They're not showing their faces. Like Yeah. and and and I would also say that a lot you know I'm sorry but a lot of police officers and a lot of these uh agencies we they've lost something that they in some ways some and I'm sure this isn't true for all races but in some ways back they used to like be a little bit more like no I need to see this and no and guess and here's my bad you know like they've lost all that it's all go [ __ ] yourself and I'll hurt you if you if you don't comply I mean they they enter the situation at an 11 and it's that's a great point. Yeah. Could you you know is that really the best way to solve problems? No. Yeah. No. So, uh uh the Andrea Valz story, she doesn't talk I we don't know if she was a Trump supporter to begin with, but we do know that George um Doyles was and um he at the end of that video said, you know, I regret my vote. And it got me to thinking, you know, I wonder I I don't I I think I've seen it one time, but I thought I'd go back and look and see what was the kind of the general racial breakdown of who voted for Trump. And uh again, these aren't perfect numbers. These are exit poll numbers. This is an average of a bunch of exit polls. But in 2024, um Hispanic Latino voters, it was 47%. um Asian voters was 40 and black voters was 14% and white voters was 57. So you go, you know, 47% uh of Latino voters. You go like I, you know, I hate to say that. I'm concerned for them. I'm worried for them. I don't care if they did vote for Trump. I'm scared for them. They are going to be running into I bet you over the next four years, this is just the beginning, guys. You know, and I getting more and more desperate to make these arrests because the pressure is building up in the administration to expedite these deportations, right? So, they're going to get less choosy over time. Yeah. They're not really scrutinizing like the good problem-solving fellas that they're recruiting, you know? And the last thing that we're going to say on this show, and we will never say this, is they deserve it because they voted for Trump because that's just not right. Nobody deserves this. And I will do everything I can to fight for that Trump voters's rights. This is wrong, man. He's a US citizen and he's being stopped because he's brown. And I'm worried about you guys. Yeah.
